The difference between the two is natural diamonds contain small amounts of nitrogen and lab diamonds do not. This difference can not be seen with the naked eye, in fact it takes specialised equipment to determine the difference.  Both are made of 100% carbon and assessed using the 4c’s. The appearance of the diamonds are identical, lab grown diamonds are more likely to have higher quality and purity as they are produced in a controlled environment, where as mined diamonds may contain dirt and debris trapped within them from growing underground.
